Dishes and Sweets
Delight your senses with the best of both worlds!
On the one hand, the influences of the coast with fish and seafood dishes, especially soups, pasta and stews and the stews of the famous eels, on the other hand the flavors of the Alentejo countryside with game dishes, wild boar, pork, lamb and açordas, not forgetting the traditional sausages and the famous Portuguese stew from Canal-Caveira. All seasoned with typical Alentejo aromatic herbs where oregano, coriander, mint, pennyroyal, rosemary and basil are masters. Accompany these delicacies with the delicious Alentejo bread and the already famous wine produced in our municipality.
Megalithic monument of complex architecture, consisting of corridor, main chamber and secondary chamber or niche. The whole complex was originally covered by a papaya tree, of which some traces remain in the immediate vicinity. The collection collected during the excavations includes some ceramic vases, a copper arrowhead and a shale archer arm. The architectural features of the grave and the collection collected suggest that it is a late monument, built in the transition phase of the IV / III millennium BC or in the first half of the latter.
It is one of the most important regional sub-units of the Municipality in terms of population, it starts at the northern edge of the Serra, and extends to the river Sado. A large part of this takes on the characteristics of moorland, space in general, flat, slightly wavy and with gentle slopes, which in geological terms fits into the tertiary formations of the Sado basin consisting essentially of Pliocene sand and clays.
